About Gregory Payette
I've written over twenty-five novels about characters trying to figure out what comes next. Most of them involve guns and dead bodies.
But when my father died in 2024, I started writing stories that moved closer to the quiet truths of how people actually live through long marriages, grief, and the places we return to even when we know we shouldn’t.
My work today includes crime novels, short stories, and atmospheric fiction set in 1970s and 80s New England. My paintings, known for their sense of solitude and place, often become the covers for my books.
I was born outside Providence. I live in North Carolina now, which still surprises me some mornings.
