Body on the Beach and some personal updates

(This email was originally sent to subscribers on Friday, June 16, 2023)

Hello and welcome new subscribers!

First, a quick "Thank you!" to all who purchased Body on the Beach, the second book in the new Jake Horn mystery series. (Haven't read the first one yet? Get it here.)

Paperbacks are now available in multiple stores, including Barnes & NobleBookShop.org, and others big enough I don't have to mention by name.

E
books can be found just about anywhere books are sold online, including my website.

I'm waiting on a paperback delivery, so you'll soon be able to get both Jake Horn print versions from my store at a very reasonable price.

As always, my books are always available in libraries. All you have to do is ask your librarian, search on your library app, or check out the link at the bottom of my website, where you'll see "quick links" with library info under it.

One thing you'll notice in Body on the Beach is the dedication to my son, James, at the beginning of the book.

He graduated high school earlier this week, and it's hard to believe how fast it all went by. It feels like yesterday I held his hand and walked him up the ramp into preschool for the first time.

As someone who has worked from home for most of my kids' lives, I've been around for it all. So when he goes off to college in August (he'll be attending UNC Chapel Hill!) I'm likely not going to handle the adjustment very well.

Sundays are going to be rough once football season starts. James and I have watched every Patriots game together since he was old enough to sit up. (He was in my wife's stomach for the Red Sox '04 World Series win, and it set him on the path of becoming a huge sports fanatic.)

However, with a bunch of emotions running through my mind, I'm still going to manage to get new stories out to you...

The next Henry Walsh mystery (#10) is in the works. I'd love to have it ready by early fall, if not sooner.

The first draft of the third Jake Horn mystery has been written, and I'm now into the second draft/revision stage. I'm really enjoying this new series, especially having it set in 1970s New England.

I also have a standalone mystery I'm writing that I'd like to have out this year, but it's not on the top of the pile right now. Also on deck is a fourth Joe Sheldon novel, and a third U.S. Marshal Charlie Harlow.

I'm going to try to keep my normal writing pace going, but my priority right now, and in the coming months, is hanging with James and making sure his send-off to college is as smooth for him as possible.

How about you? Are you good? I mention this all the time in my emails, but I really would like to hear from you. What's nice about email is it's two-way, so please reply to me with anything you'd like to share or ask. I always reply, even if it takes a day or two.

I hope you enjoy your weekend and thanks again for reading my books. It means the world to me.
